BIOGRAPHY

Udo Mechels (° May 10, 1976) is a Belgian singer / songwriter. He graduated from Erasmus University College in Brussels as a Bachelor Communication Management.

At 30, Udo won The X-Factor on the Flemish commercial channel vtm, after which he released a first album in English at Sony BMG . Also on this album, Tu Me Manques A Mourir, the favorite French song of Udo's mother.

A year later, he won the song contest Zo Is Er Maar Een on the public channel VRT. Udo's rendition of Ik Mis Je Zo, the Dutch version of Tu Me Manques A Mourir, became a Flemish classic.

The public specifically asked to sing in Dutch, and after two pop albums in English, Udo released an album in Dutch at Sony Music . The artist also puts two French songs on this album, which once again shows his love for the French language.

Udo will later release two other successful Dutch albums at Universal Music .

The singer has won several awards and gold records in his career and is also the TV host of Hit The Road , the music program of the Flemish commercial channel vtm.

As a child, Udo was a big fan of the French songwriter duo Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon. Since he became a professional musician, he started writing music for several artists. It is quite remarkable that - being himself the winner of The X-Factor - Udo wrote for 8 winners of talent shows, in Belgium and abroad.

In 2020, he decides that it is time to convert his predilection for the French language into a 6th album, whilst writing for his new age piano and ambient projects such as Umeå Bodø and for other, young Belgian talents; coaching and guiding them in the music business.
